The annual Montgomery county wrestling meet was held Saturday at North Montgomery. The Crawfordsville Athenians ended Southmont’s strangle hold on the title, winning their first team county title in nearly two decades and ending the Mounties four year run as champions. North Montgomery was able to get the upper hand on Crawfordsville to open the [...] The Lady Chargers dropped a tough matchup with the West Lafayette Lady Red Devils 60-57. North Montgomery seemed to have the game under control, leading by 7 with three minutes remaining, but when Kelsi Byrd then Sami Jo Byrd fouled out, West Lafayette was able to regain the momentum and take the victory. Pressure defense [...] The North Montgomery boys JV basketball team won a dramatic matchup against Crawfordsville 41-39. The loss was the first of the season for the Athenians. The Chargers squandered a big 4th quarter lead and were able to capitalize on a questionable no foul call deflection and layup as the clock expired. Definitely was a [...] The Crawfordsville girls JV basketball team, led by several players who have been seeing solid varsity minutes so far this year displayed considerable depth and skill as the easily defeated North Montgomery 46-22. While the final score was not that close, the margin was really established in the first quarter.
