The Wabash Little Giants soccer team hosted the 23rd ranked DePauw Tigers on Wednesday and battled them to a 2-2 tie.
After a scoreless first half, the Little Giants nearly won the contest but lost a 2-0 lead after the Tigers were able to make the most of two restarts and score two goals to send the match into overtime. The second restart came with only 27 seconds remaining in the match and ended 6 seconds later with the tying goal.
Austin Jennings and Mark Babcock povided the scoring for Wabash who moves to 2-3-1 on the season.
I was only able to shoot part of the first half due to other commitments.

The Wabash Little Giants opened the 2009 season with a dominating performance beating Denison 56-7 at Hollett Little Giant Stadium.
It took the Little Giants 2:02 of the first quarter to storm 77 yards on only 5 plays to take an early 7-0 lead. Braden Layer of Denison then fumbled on the first play from scrimmage that was picked up by Matt Kraft and returned 26 yards for a touchdown and an acrobat, albeit penalized flip into the endzone. 2:16 seconds into the game and Wabash had already scored all the points they would need for the afternoon.
Wabash added another TD in the 1st and two more in the 2nd to head to the locker room with a commanding 35-0 halftime lead.
Denison managed to get on the board early in the 3rd but that was it for the day. Wabash tacked on two more scores in the 3rd and with a 49-7 spread, the second stringers got some valuable early season playing time.
The Little Giants racked up 532 yards of total offense on 80 plays while limiting Denison to six first downs and 139 yards of total offense with only 55 coming on the ground.
Matt Hudson had a solid afternoon at quarterback completing 16 of 27 passes for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns and only 1 interception that came on a hesitant pass as he was hit by the Denison defense.
Hudson’s favorite target on the day was preseason All-American Kody LeMond who hauled in 7 passes for 126 yards and two TD’s. My apologies to Kody as I gave up on shooting the play that ended with him making one of the nicest catches I can remember seeing. I promise to not give up on you ever again. Great catch!!
Tommy Mambourg led the way on the ground picking up 120 yards and a single touchdown. Wes Chamblee made the most of his two rushing attempts (42 yards and 20 yards) as both ended with him in the end zone. Kyle Stevens rounded out the scoring on the ground with a 2 yard run.
Wabash travels north to take on the University of Chicago next weekend and return to Hollett Little Giant stadium the following weekend for homecoming.

The Wabash Little Giants soccer team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over visiting Alma as part of the Wabash/DePauw Soccer Classic. Sophomore Dylan Andrew’s first half header goal off of Ian Kelly’s corner kick proved to be all the offense the Little Giants would need for the day.
Wabash returns to action on Sunday at noon when they host Elmhurst College in the second match of the Soccer Classic.

Because my schedule was so crazy I was not able to plan to be at this game. Since it was the playoffs, without proper credentials, you were really limited on where you could shoot. I only shot the first half.
Football season is not going to get here soon enough. I covered the Indiana North South All-Star game last night so it got me all excited about football. I had not went through my Wabash football from last year so am doing that today. I will also be working on stuff from the high school all star game a little later.
Numerous schedule conflicts kept me from making it to most of the Wabash games in 2008. The Allegheny game was the only regular season game I attended. Yes, I missed the bell game. Yes, I was not thinking when i scheduled other plans for that day. No, it won’t happen again.
Getting some of the older things added here. This is a burst sequence from a play at the plate from a Wabash baseball game this past spring. It was one of my favorite sequences of the year. The camera was mounted on a fence and fired remotely as I was standing down the first base line shooting with another camera.
