The photo book from the 2010 Strawberry Festival Queen Contest is complete. Those who have already ordered a copy will receive them in about 10 days. For those who have not ordered a copy you can preview it below as well as order one directly from here by clicking on the BUY link at the bottom left. Keep in mind this is a low resolution preview. The printed books will look much nicer than the preview. Thanks for looking. After falling asleep in the middle of the afternoon and missing my card game, I decided to go see The Vipers at The Sand Bar. Gotta love classic rock and roll jams!! Too bad it was 134,000 degrees outside. Jack Daniels does not help keep you cool either but I did have a really good time partying with some of my new coworkers. After a long day of graduation festivities I went to the Sand Bar at A Country Affair for night of live music featuring Healing Sixes. It was the first time I had been to the Sand Bar since it opened and it is a really nice setup. My Jack and Cokes were a bit expensive, but I did not let cost slow me down. It was also the first time I had seen Healing Sixes and they were outstanding!! While their original stuff is very good, the covers of Led Zeppelin flat out rocked. They will return to the Sand Bar September 4 so if you get a chance go check them out. You can also find more info on the band on their website, Facebook page or MySpace page. Below is a slideshow of some photos from the night. The all orange gel lighting the second half of the night made most of the photos look like hell so I converted them to black and white. I spent a beautiful Saturday night taking photos of Steve Trent and Small Town during their show at the Sugar Creek Campground. These guys are outstanding as many of you know. This was a first for me. I have never tried to shoot photos where the only light was from black lights. Very challenging but also very fun. I know I am glad I am not the person who had to clean the floor of the Aux gym. Below is a slideshow of some of my favorite images from the dance. I attended the dress rehearsal of the Crawfordsville spring musical, Bye Bye Birdie. As has been the case with all the shows I have attended put on by the Crawfordsville students, this was excellent. If you have a chance to attend either today or tomorrow, I would encourage you to do so. The kids do an outstanding job. Below is a slideshow of some of my favorites from the night. The Crawfordsville students took on an ambitious task performing Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as their fall performance. I was only able to attend the dress rehearsal but was extremely impressed with their efforts. Congratulations on an outstanding job. Below is a slideshow of some of my favorite images. Congratulations to Kelsea Simpson for being named the 2009-2010 Montgomery County Jr. Miss. Kelsea, a senior at North Montgomery, was followed but what must have been a very close decision, by first runner-up Crawfordsville senior Jenn Meyer and second runner-up Southmont senior Brooke Wininger. I thought all the ladies did a very nice job and were all worthy contestants. I had a very difficult time picking out favorite photos so instead decided to spend the extra time grouping each of the girls photos into individual galleries to make it easier for people to see their favorite contestants. I want to apologize to the Little Sisters for not having a better selection of photos from your performance. Your outfits were great and wish I could have captured them better. I was disappointed in the lighting most of the night as it made it very difficult to take photos but it was especially bad for your routine. I’m not a pageant regular so don’t have much to compare it against, but do know it can’t be a good thing when the judges table has more light than the stage. I also really wish they would have choreographed the routine so all of you would have been out front for at least part of the number. A couple of you I never saw because you were blocked by the front row the whole routine. If I didn’t get a photo of you, it was not because I wasn’t trying. I guess we will have to wait and see you next year. Click on any of the names below to view the photos I have for the individual. Sabrina Brown Congratulations to Elizabeth Guinter who was crowned 2009 homecoming queen during the halftime ceremonies Friday night. Kylie Justus, Grace Vaught and Jessica Pursell made up the remainder of the senior queen’s court and were joined by the underclass attendants Rachel Miller (Junior), Grace Stewart (Sophomore) and Brennan Pool (Freshman).
