It was a tough night for the Lady Chargers as the 135 mph winds and a very strong Cascade team made it difficult to do much of anything which in turn made it tough to get very many good photos. I will do better at the next match I promise. Below are some of my favorites from the match. Click here to view them as a gallery or click here to view all of them from the night.
The Lady Mounties picked up an easy victory over the visitors from Faith Christian. I only shot one half since I was also trying to cover the boys match. However, my experimentation during the boys match turned out to be a failure and a waste of time. Sorry boys team, this is why I did not bother to post any images. The Lady Chargers hosted Lebanon in a conference matchup with the Lady Tigers slipping away with a 3-1 victory. Lebanon scored a quick goal to take an early 1-0 lead but North Montgomery responded well on defense shutting down the Lady Tigers for the rest of the half and for the first 35 minutes of the second half. When the Lady Chargers made an adjustment to add an extra offensive player, Lebanon was able to add an insurance goal with five minutes remaining. Another quick goal by Lebanon put them up 3-0 before Danielle Terry finally got the Lady Chargers on the board. North Montgomery played Lebanon very well on the night and did a nice job defending the aggressive Lady Tigers. Below is a slideshow of my favorite images from the match. The Crawfordsville Lady Athenians moved one step closer to locking down their seventh straight Montgomery county soccer title with a 2-0 win over the visiting Southmont Mounties. Senior Alex Gasaway provided the offense for Crawfordsville scoring both goals; one in each half. Her goal in the first half was very impressive as her 25+ yard shot found its way over the hands of Southmont goalkeeper Mallory McIntire and just under the cross bar. The win moves Crawfordsville to 9-1-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in the conference and will look to wrap up the county title when they face off against North Montgomery Thursday night . Southmont drops to 3-5-2 on the season and 2-3 in conference matches and takes on Danville in another tough conference matchup on Wednesday. Below is a slideshow of my favorite images from the event. The Lady Mounties lost a tough match at home Monday night 3-2 in a back and forth match against the Tri-West Bruins. Southmont took a 1-0 lead into the half on a goal by Shelby Phillips. Two second half goals by Tri-West gave them a 2-1 lead. Stephanie Martin responded for the Lady Mounties when her goal evened the match 2-2 but the Lady Bruins had the last word when Kely Buss found the back of the net to seal the 3-2 win. Southmont moves to 3-3-1 on the season and 2-2 in the conference and will host Lebanon on Thursday in another critical conference matchup. Below is a slideshow of my favorite images from the event. The Southmont Lady Mounties visited North Montgomery for a conference and county matchup and left with a 2-0 victory over the Lady Chargers. The two teams were unable to net a goal in the first half as good defense on both sides of the ball limited shot opportunities. It seemed to take the Lady Mounties some time to adjust to the mammoth sized field but in the second half they came out with better overall spacing and ball movement and were able to create some scoring opportunities. Brooke Nace put Southmont on the board scoring on a breakaway goal early in the second half which proved to be all the Lady Mounties would need but a nice score by Stephanie Martin gave the Lady Mounties some breathing room and allowed them to settle in and shut down the Chargers. The win moves Southmont to 2-1-1 on the season and 1-1 in the conference while the loss drops North Montgomery to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference. The Lady Athenian soccer team moved to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the conference after a 5-1 victory over the visiting Frankfort Hot Dogs. Senior Kate Conklin led the scoring for Crawfordsville with two goals and Alex Gasaway, Chloe Conklin and Kara Fulwider added a goal each to round out the Lady Athenian scoring. Frankfort was a very physical team and were constantly pressuring Crawfordsville all over the field. Crawfordsville at times appeared to have some problems with the physical style but when the ball was near the goal they found ways to make the scores.
